Callahan scores six-pack at Dover

Dover, DE — Dover Downs closed out the 2011 portion of its meet on Thursday (Dec. 29) with meet leading driver Corey Callahan recording a six-pack of wins. With no racing on Friday and Saturday, the meet continues on New Year’s Day 2012.

Callahan won his sixth in the $8,000 3&4-Year-Old Male pace driving Hot Shot Lawyer to victory in a lifetime best 1:54.2. Amanda Payson trains the Rocknroll Hanover-Decent Lawyer sophomore gelding for Art Brewer. Hot Shot Lawyer raced alongside leader Native World from the half until the final turn before Callahan urged the 3-year-old into the lead and then won easily. Meg’s Boy (Jon Roberts) finished second. A And Gs Express (Ross Wolfenden) was the show horse.

Callahan’s other winners were Bay Pond Racing’s Northern Ideal in the first, Matt’s Jack, owned by Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis in the third, Susan Ehlers and trainer Jason Skinner’s Winter Night in the fourth, Nick Callahan’s trotter Sound The Belle in the seventh and Kovach Stables’ Tampa Bay Escape won race eight.

In addition to Callahan’s big night, drivers Allan Davis and Sean Bier along with owner Art Brewer, and trainers Amanda Payson and Dylan Davis had two winners each.
