Callahan wins both co-featured trots at Dover

Dover, DE — Corey Callahan drove both Kolbee’s Star and Drinksforthehouse to victories in the feature trots on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Dover Downs.

Kolbees Star and driver Cory Callahan scored a 1:56.1 victory in one of Wednesday’s co-featured trots at Dover Downs.

Kolbee’s Star, with Callahan in the bike, challenged race favorite Stirling Diva (Tim Tetrick) on the backstretch to race head-to-head before pulling away in deep stretch for a 1:56.1 triumph in the $15,500 4&5-Year-Old trot. The win was the third in his last four outings for the Lear Jetta-Ultimate Star 4-year-old gelding trained by Joe Holloway for owner PCF Stable. Stirling Diva held on for second with Adrenalin Junkie (Jim Morand) getting up for third.

One race later, Callahan teamed up with Drinksforthehouse to win a $12,000 trot for Howard and Josh Kaufman. The John Cabot 4-year-old Conway Hall-Pacific Photo trainee notched his fourth win in his last six races with a 1:55.3 victory. It was his 10th lifetime win good for $89,521 earnings. Winemaster Hanover (Tony Morgan) raced well for second with Windsong Ingenious (Russ Foster) the show horse.

Tim Tetrick posted four wins for the second straight day. Callahan made the winner’s circle three times while George Dennis and trainer Jim King had two wins.

Jeremes General and Letsmakeawish head the co-feature events on the Thursday, Feb. 11 card.

Dover Downs is dark on Friday and Saturday. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m.
