Captaintreacherous team congratulates Sunshine Beach

from Captaintreacherous Racing

Versailles, KY — This past Saturday evening, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs hosted more than $2 million worth of top quality races in their inaugural Super Stakes Saturday card. The event was well attended and very well done, providing some of the season’s best racing.

One of the featured events, the $500,000 Battle of the Brandywine, resulted in an epic battle between a pair of colts by Somebeachsomewhere with Sunshine Beach narrowly prevailing over Captaintreacherous in a world record equaling 1:47.4f.

The Captaintreacherous team wishes to send their congratulations to all the connections of Sunshine Beach, particularly trainer Mark Steacy, on a job well done. Both colts fought toe to toe for five-eighths of the record mile, finishing within inches of each other, adding to the already impressive lore of their sire.

The Battle of the Brandywine was a thrilling race for those of us with a stake in the outcome, as well as the fans who came out for the races. It was one of many highlights on Saturday, proving that harness racing can still produce the kind of entertainment and excitement that attracts interest when we put our best face forward.

In a season filled with exciting races for all divisions, it has been our good fortune to enjoy the ride with the “Captain” through the early season and we anticipate even more fun and excitement continuing with the Cane Pace and beyond.
