Pompano Beach, FL — There were two live tickets heading into the final leg of the 50-cent Pick 5-on Wednesday (Jan 8) night worth over $9,600 each, but ironically enough fans did not have the betting favorite covered.

Zuerest ($4.80) took control of the field just past the opening quarter, and dug in to fend off his rivals down the lane, creating a carryover of $7,989 heading into the Saturday night card.

Track officials, in conjunction with the USTA Strategic Wagering Program, have instituted a $25,000 Guaranteed Pool for the 50-cent Pick-5 on the Saturday night card.

The 50-cent Pick-5 is a nightly wager covering races 1–5.

Live racing continues at Pompano Park every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evening with a first post of 7:05 p.m. The Pick-4, held nightly on races 5-8, features a $5,000 Guaranteed Pool every Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday night.
