by “Catskill” Steve Terjanian

Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-5 pool at Yonkers Raceway on Nov. 12, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013

$.50 play: 347/13/4/34/17 = $12

Analysis:

Race 5: (3) Dreaming Of Lori is a sharp filly that returns from Pennsylvania and was a wire-to-wire winner here in the slop against slightly lesser on last visit. (4) Howe’s Magic is a well bred sophomore that has shown plenty of ability having taken five in a row, the last four at Yonkers, and looks tough again. (7) Winemaster Hanover has raced well at Pocono and is another who has won here in the past; post only knock.

Race 6: (3) Charger Blue Chip finds a good spot against slightly lesser field than he’s been racing against and may have finally run out of excuses. (1) Dancing In Terror showed improved speed from eight hole, gets the rail and may try to steal it.

Race 7: (4) Stonebridge Terror had steady rally from tough spot. Moves inside in second local try and has a decided class edge on these.

Race 8: (3) Cee Pee Panic returns from Harrah’s off solid two-move placing last time and a powerful rally for place, just failing to get up in 1:52.3 mile two back. Finds good spot and can go down the road. (4) Babe’s I Scoot remains in sharp form at best level and is another with dangerous early speed.

Race 9: (1) Pointsman ships down from north of the border and debuts for powerful Allard barn. Canadian has been banging heads against Ontario Sire Stakes competition and has a 1:51.2 mark at Mohawk taken earlier in the year. (7) Burkentine Hanover is a much improved 3-year-old that is seven for 13 on the year and has taken last two in powerful fashion, bringing Yonkers record to four wins and a third from five starts and has shown the ability to race on or from off the pace.

Good luck!
