Celebrity Maserati will stand at Leatherstocking Equine Group in New York

Goshen, NY – Celebrity Farms’ Sam Stathis has announced that his stakes-winning trotter, Celebrity Maserati, will be standing stud for the 2019 season at Leatherstocking Equine Group in New York. His stud fee will be $2,500.

Sired by Andover Hall from the SJ’s Caviar mare, Arlanda Hanover, Celebrity Maserati was a $198,852 stakes winner with a record of 1:53 as a three-year-old at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

At age three, he was the winner of the Dexter Cup Trot Final at Freehold Raceway and was first and second in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes.

In only his second start of the season in the Dexter Cup, Celebrity Maserati defeated Jimmy Takter’s world-record holder Dontyouforgetit in 1:58.3, an early lifetime best clocking, making him a season’s leader for most of the year.

From seven foals out of Arlanda Hanover, six made the races and Celebrity Maserati was the fastest and top money earner. He has a full brother, Orlando, who was a $175,000 stakes winner with a record of 1:55.4.

In 2013, Celebrity Maserati fractured his ankle on the first turn in an elimination for the prestigious Hambletonian, but still was able to come home faster that any other horse in the race.

Celebrity Maserati was also one of the horses rescued from the devastating fire at the Olympia Training Center (formerly the South Florida Trotting Center) on March 16, 2016 that took the lives of 12 Standardbred racehorses.

Between his injuries in the Hambletonian and then the fire, Stathis decided it was time to stand his black stallion at stud.

“He is such a magnificent looking horse that I felt it was time to put him to stud publicly,” said Stathis. “I know he will do very well in New York as he was a major stakes winner (Dexter Cup) on a half-mile track and has taken fast records on all size tracks.”
