Charles Brown, 67, dies

Columbus, OH — Charles Raymond Brown, 67, died Nov. 22, 2011, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

He was born Oct. 2, 1944, to Troy and Inaz Brown in Grundy, Virginia.

Mr. Brown owned and operated Trottin Charlie’s Bar for 20 years. He was the leading driver at several racetracks during his 30-year career in harness racing. Most notable were his horses J D’s Action and Capt Silverheels, sire stakes winners in Ohio and Indiana, respectively.

During high school, Mr. Brown was a linebacker for the football team. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sue (Maxwell); daughters, Renee (Scott) Arnold and Michelle (Chris) Jones; grandchildren, Regan Arnold, Seth Arnold, Taylor Arnold, Logan Arnold, Gavin Brown and Peyton Jones; mother-in-law, Juanita Maxwell; siblings, Troy, James, Susan (Larry) Spangler, Anita (Terry) Stoll and David; and stepsister-in-law, Barb Cairl. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Vickey.

Family and friends may visit Friday (Nov. 25) from 12-5 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., Toledo. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Vriezlaar presiding.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
