Lemoyne, PA — Charles Gray, 61, died recently and was laid to rest today at the Taylor Funeral Home in Lexington, Ky.
He was a fixture at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs (and other tracks) as a trainer and driver for approximately 40 years and was very well liked by everyone.
Mr. Gray was nicknamed Buckwheat, “Buck” for short, which he seemed to embrace rather than mind, and even embroidered it on his colors.
According to USTA records, Mr. Gray trained 69 winners in his career and his trainees banked $180,594. As a driver, he piloted 60 horses to the winner’s circle and his mounts banked $148,036.
