CHHA scholarship award winners announced

Salem, NH — The CHHA scholarship committee met on June 27 and selected three students to receive this year’s scholarships. Consideration was given to the applicant’s faith statement, involvement in harness racing and other important criteria.

David “RJ” Justice was awarded the Weldon and Nancy Stockwell Scholarship to attend Troy Price Horseshoeing School in Uniondale, Ind., to achieve his goal of becoming a Journeyman Farrier. The committee was impressed with David’s drive to become a farrier for our harness racing community.

David is proud to be a good Christian. He received awards from FAA after volunteering many hours and proving to be one of the top members of Ohio FAA.

Lexi Twaddle, the walking talking horse at the Meadows, was awarded the John and Janet Klark Scholarship. She plans to major in Biology at Walsh University with the intentions of pursuing a career as a Physician’s Assistant or a perfusionist. Lexi is the MSOA mascot. Her job is to entertain, build relationships and encourage fans to enjoy a fun, positive experience.

Lexi says, “I’ve never been closer to God. Someone once told me that though an airplane looks small in the sky, the closer you get to it, the bigger it becomes. Same thing with a relationship with God. The closer you are, the bigger impact he will have on your life. I truly believe God changes everything and that he has a plan for everyone.”

Meadow Twaddle was awarded the Rambling Willie Scholarship to continue her studies in psychology and Spanish at Washington Jefferson College. Meadow’s parents race at the Meadows.

According to Lori Romanetti, “Meadow has always been involved with the horses, helping out her parents when she was available. She has worked many times for the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, helping with family fun events designed to promote harness racing for the whole family.”

Meadow’s chaplain, Pastor Joe DiDonatto, says, “Meadow has been part of our various ministry programs for many years and is one of the nicest and most polite young ladies I have ever met.”
