Salem, NH — The Christian Harness Horsemen’s Association Scholarship Committee considered the 11 terrific applications received this year. Three were outstanding: Aubrey Schwartz, Sydney Trotto and Meadow Twaddle. Aubrey Schwartz, our John and Janet Klark Scholarship recipient, plans to study agriculture, education, and minor in business administration at Wilmington College.

Aubrey has been around harness racing her whole life, helping her dad, Bret Schwartz, with his stable and more recently as a USTA Youth delegate contributing to Youth Beats magazine and attending events to promote harness racing in Ohio and beyond. Her grandfather, Dr. Bob Schwartz, is a veterinarian at Midland Acres.

Aubrey says, “My faith, accomplishments, and achievements have shaped my character tremendously. I have been blessed to be surrounded by amazing people who have allowed me to achieve great things.”

Meadow Twaddle, our Rambling Willie Scholarship recipient, plans to study biology and health at Washington and Jefferson College. Meadow’s parents race at the Meadows.

According to Lori Romanetti, “Meadow has always been involved with the horses, helping out her parents when she was available. She has worked many times for the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, helping with family fun events designed to promote harness racing for the whole family.”

Meadow’s chaplain, Pastor Joe DiDonatto, says, “Meadow has been part of our various ministry programs for many years and is one of the nicest and most polite young ladies I have ever met.”

Sydney Trotto was awarded a scholarship to continue her nursing studies at James Madison University. Sydney comes from a mid-Atlantic harness racing family and helps around the barn when she is home. The scholarship committee was really impressed with her many mission and ministry activities.

Sydney says in her essay, “I was raised in the Methodist church, but it wasn’t until I went to Camp Highroad in the summer before fifth grade that my faith really took off.…I had counselors that I looked up to and were role models for faith and daily living. I then started to be more involved in my church by going to youth group and Sunday School.”
