Bill McLinchey, Senior Manager of Racing for the Woodbine Entertainment Group, presents a sign to Chris Christoforou in recognition of his 6,000th career win.

Christoforou, 43, steered pacer World Away to victory in the evening’s seventh race for career driving victory 6,000.

Christoforou entered Monday’s card one win shy of the 6,000 win mark. Although he was not listed in the program to drive World Away, Christoforou picked up the drive because of a late driver change.

The Campbellville resident is currently in the midst of his best season since 2006. Christoforou is currently the leading driver on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit and recently captured the Mohawk meet driving title. In total this season, Christoforou has 209 victories and earnings of $4.5 million.

A three-time O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s driver of the year, Christoforou is also approaching another milestone, as he is less than C$150,000 away from reaching C$100 million in career earnings.

The Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to congratulate Chris on his accomplishment and wish him continued success.
