City Delight brings $195,000 at Tattersalls Sale

Columbus, OH — City Delight, a 3-year-old pacing filly by Bettor’s Delight-Western City, was hammered down for $195,000 on Monday (Jan. 17) at the Tattersalls January Select Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands.

City Delight won four of 11 starts as a juvenile in 2010 and earned $81,264. She took a mark of 1:54.2h at Yonkers Raceway in a New York Sire Stakes event. William Donovan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. signed the sales slip.

Foreign Officer, a 4-year-old pacing horse, brought a bid of $150,000 on Monday. The son of Western Ideal-Allamerican Coco has won six of 27 lifetime starts, with earnings of $213,607. He set his mark of 1:49.4 in 2010 in winning a Berry’s Creek elimination. His biggest victory came in the $100,000 Meadowlands Pace Consolation. David Rovine of St. Petersburg, Fla. was the winning bidder.

In an intersting twist, both a dam and one of her daughters were each sold for $100,000-plus. Cream Puff, a 15-year-old daughter of Pine Chip-Peace A Pie was sold for $115,000 to David Goodrow, as agent for Jeff Snyder. Cream Puff has had seven foals, led by Creamy Mimi 3,1:53.4 ($927,169), the 2008 Hambletonian Oaks champion.

Cream Puff’s second foal, Anna Karin’s Girl, a 9-year-old daughter of Malabar Man, brought a winning bid of $110,000 from Robert Lindstrom of Boden, Sweden. Anna Karin’s Girl earned just $7,620 on the racetrack, but had success with her first foal, Brooklyn. As a freshman in 2010 the Conway Hall filly banked $72,799 and took a mark of 1:59.2 at The Red Mile in winning her Bluegrass division.
