Batavia, NY — Racing Secretary Joe Zambito announced today that Batavia Downs Gaming will be hosting a claiming series named the “Claim the Cash Pacing Series,” beginning on November 14.

The series will consist of three legs and a $20,000 final, which will be held on December 5. Horses not making the final will race for a $6,000 consolation. Horses will be eligible to be claimed in the first three legs. The top 36 horses advance to leg two based on their finish in leg one.

The claiming series is for horses that have started in a $5,000 claimer or lower at least twice at Batavia or Buffalo by November 1, 2008. A non-refundable $500 entry fee is due by November 14.

“I wanted to do something for the folks with lower level claimers,” Zambito said. “I anticipate the claim box will be full and it’s a great way to end a fantastic race meet. We expect there will be plenty of interest considering how big the final is.”
