Columbus, OH — Clayton L. Goad, 82, of Cordova, Md., died Aug. 2, 2014, at his home.

Born in Goldsboro, Md., on February 6, 1932, Mr. Goad was the son of the late Obie Dolph Goad and Rosie Bella Nester Edwards. Mr. Goad had lived in Caroline and Talbot counties most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until 1952.

He was a Standardbred breeder, owner, trainer and driver. His passion was race horses and he was well-known in the Standardbred industry.

Mr. Goad is survived by his wife, Dolly Ann; daughter, Sheryl; step-son, Brian Callahan (Gloria Kinnamon); brothers, Noble (Nettie Mae) and Kenny; sisters, Nellie (Tommy) Rampmeyer and Jean (Bill) Brown; grandchildren, Michelle, Katrina, Ashley, and Jim; seven great-grandchildren; special niece, Bonnie Owens; and his very good and special friends, Bobby and Jessica Walls and their son Austin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Whitson; and two infant brothers, Rufus and Brufus.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 7) in the Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely, Md. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening (Aug. 6) at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street, Denton, MD.
