Clayton Shuck, 4, dies

Columbus, OH — Clayton Anthony Shuck, 4, of Geneva, Indiana, died Dec. 29, 2010 from cancer after a relentless battle of 20 months.

He was born on Nov. 14, 2006, the oldest son of Jason and Theresa (Smith) Shuck and the grandson of Larry Smith, DVM, with Hickory Ridge Farm in Berne, Indiana.

Clayton attended St. George’s Episcopal Church and loved life, being a farm boy, 4-H fairs, all animals, showing his sheep Snowflake, being a big brother, and his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jasper; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Darlene Shuck; maternal grandparents, Larry and Madge Smith; maternal great-grandparents, James and Norma Smith and Jean Marshal; paternal great-grandparents, Reba Shuck and Harold Merrell; aunts, Jenny (Bill) McIntire, Emilee (Elmer) Schwartz, and Valerie Smith; uncles, Travis (Melissa) Shuck and Dustin (Killey) Shuck; and nine cousins. He was preceded in death by cousins, Brayden Schwartz and Jessica Merrel; maternal great- grandfather, Donald Marshall; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Merrell; and paternal great-grandfather, Glen Shuck.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, from 1–5 p.m. at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with calling one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry St., Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Rt. Rev. Edward S. Little II will be officiating and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Indiana Chapter, through Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home.
