Cloverallover undoes Railbirds

by Keith Gisser, assistant publicity director, Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Shirley Otto’s Cloverallover won Friday’s (Oct. 6) Mares Open Trot at Northfield Park from post two on a night when six winners scored from the rail.

It made no difference to the Jim Otto-trained Towner’s Big Guy daughter as leading pilot Greg Grismore sat patiently second twice around the track behind Dynastar (yes, she was the one horse), and when Dynastar tired late, Cloverallover closed for the 1-1/2 length, 1:55 win, her sixth of the season. Bacon Hill Dannnie was second and Kick It In Kaylyn rounded out a $318.00 trifecta.

Grismore won four of the first five races, five of the first seven, and seven of the first ten as he lengthened his lead in the Northfield driving standings to 34 (373-339) over Aaron Merriman, who posted a double Friday. Brett Miller also had two wins on the card in a rare fall Flying Turns appearance.
