Temple Hills, MD — On July 5, the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners’ Association Board of Directors took several actions as a board.

In light of the COVID pandemic, CSOA had been unable to schedule an election. The Board approved a motion to hold an election on Aug. 18, in accordance with the expedited schedule for the election process as specified below.

July 5: Nominating Committee appointed
July 11: Notification of nominees to membership
July 25: Declaration of candidacy/photograph/candidate statement postmarked on or before this deadline date
July 29: 2022 ballots sent out to membership
Aug. 17: Mail-in ballots due at the Association’s principal office: CSOA, P.O. Box 156, Temple Hills, MD 20757 no later than close of business (5 p.m.)
Aug. 18: Election (in-person voting-ballot counting)

CSOA strongly recommends that in addition to declaring candidacy by registered/certified U.S. mail with return receipt requested or other expedited mail delivery service, such candidates should also use email to notify the CSOA office (admin@cloverleafsoa.org) with the requisite information and also include the tracking information for the mail delivery service. The board hopes this step will eliminate any potential delays that may occur with the mail delivery that may create omissions on the ballot.

The CSOA board asks that members declaring candidacy for this election using U.S. mail do so in a timely manner to account for possible delays in the U.S. mail deliveries. In addition, the CSOA board strongly recommends that such declaration of candidacy with the attendant documents be sent by e-mail to the Executive Vice-President (admin@cloverleafsoa.org) with the candidate’s name, the category (owner or trainer) for which the declaration of candidacy is being made, resume, and photograph along with the tracking number for the registered/certified letter or expedited mail delivery service declaring such candidacy.
