Clyde M. Burks, 85, dies

Columbus, OH — Clyde M. Burks, 85, of rural Sycamore, Ohio, died June 8, 2021, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Clyde Burks died June 8, 2021.

He was born March 16, 1936, to George and Oleta (Dible) Burks. He married Romaine (Riedel) Burks on May 29, 1954 and she survives.

Mr. Burks is survived by three children, Dan (Pat), Jeanne (Curt) Massie and Rheta (Dave) Mason; grandchildren, Ben (Erika), Rob (Holly) Starner, Chelsea (Eric) Schnitzler, Kate (Josh) Loverich and Ian (Krystal) Mason; step-grandchildren, Curt Massie and Ryan Massie; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Essie, Leo, Claire, Paysen, Lilly, Grady, Sawyer, Landry, Cecelia, and Maren; brothers and sisters, Floy Swerline, Carl, Owen (Phyllis), Lois (Jerry) Wolber, Virginia (Ed) Berberick, Mary Latham, Helen (Mike) Jinks, Paul (Lynn), and Fred; and sister-in-law, Carol. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; and sister, Eva Pahl.

Mr. Burks graduated from McCutchenville High School where he played basketball and baseball. He worked as a plumber, pipefitter and welder.

He raced and trained Standardbreds for more than 30 years. His favorite horses included Lady Adelia, Jimmy Bob Go and the good race mare, Candy Super Star.

For hobbies he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, painting pictures and baking his famous blackberry pies.

As per his wishes there will be no funeral services.
