Coffee Addict gets DQ win in Meadows F&M pace

by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

Washington, PA — Coffee Addict may have raced well enough to win, but it took the disqualification of the horse who beat her to give her the official victory in Monday’s (Jan. 11) $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Coffee Addict and Wilbur Yoder were out before the three-eighths to pursue the leader, Set Me Up, only to fall a nose short at the wire. Set Me Up, however, was placed back to second for a pylon violation in the lane, giving Coffee Addict the win in 1:53.2. Hidden Land was a close-up third.

Norm Parker trains Coffee Addict, a 6-year-old daughter of Dragon Again-Kahlua Queen who now boasts $439,679 in career earnings, for James C. Clarke Sr. and Andrew Altobelli.

Mike Wilder collected three wins on the 15-race card.
