Toronto, ON — This afternoon (Dec. 26) at Woodbine Racetrack, trainer Casie Coleman surpassed last year’s seasonal earnings to earn herself a career year. The victory came in the form of Our Lucky Killean who scored his 40th career win in 1:52.

Casie Coleman’s trainees have banked more than C$6.6 million in 2010.

Coleman has now pushed her seasonal earnings to over C$6.6 million. The 30-year-old is also once again an O’Brien Award finalist for trainer of the year along with Hall of Famer Bob McIntosh.

“This past year was a roller coaster ride,” Coleman commented. “We had a lot more stakes wins and less starts but there were also some downfalls. I didn’t think I was going to be able to have a career year until about a month ago. I’m honored to have such a great group of horses and staff in my barn over this past year.”

Coleman’s biggest wins this past year include the C$1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup (Sportswriter), the C$666,000 Fan Hanover Stakes final and C$300,000 OSS Super Final (Western Silk), the C$688,000 She’s A Great Lady and C$501,000 Three Diamonds (Idyllic), just to name a few.

“Sportwriter was probably the biggest disappointment this year after having an incredible 2-year-old campaign. Also, my top 2-year-old training down last year was Betterthancheddar and he hurt himself; plus, everyone knows that Pretty Katherine missed retention at the Breeders Crown. So I’ve had a few downs this year.”

Next month, Coleman will be looking to add more hardware to her collection as she looks to capture her fourth O’Brien Award at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel on January 29, 2011.
