Coleman makes a difference for SRF

from the Standardbred Retirement Foundation

Hamilton, NJ — On Friday night (June 29), when Ram Rocker leaves the gate in the 11th race at the Meadowlands, the 3-year-old filly will be pacing to make a difference. Casie Coleman, 50 percent owner of the filly, the favorite in the race, will be donating her share of the winnings of the $14,000 purse to help the only organization that provides for Standardbreds exclusively, the Standardbred Retirement Foundation.

“It’s a great way to help, a great idea, I am happy to do it,” said Coleman, one of racing’s top trainers with a large stable in both Canada and the U.S.

“People have been wonderful, like Casie, calling and e-mailing with offers to help us through this obstacle. We greatly appreciate Casie’s support and we’ll be out there hoping for a win tonight,” said Paula Campbell, SRF’s President.

In the bike is David Miller, also a long-time supporter of SRF who has one of SRF’s horses at home that his family enjoys riding.

“This paints a picture of racing that people don’t usually see, we care about what happens to these horses,” shared Miller.

SRF is being forced to leave their leased home after nearly five years where they have 42 Standardbreds. An outpouring of support has led to homes for 14, and other means of support, in their search for a new place to operate from.
