Colts & geldings featured in DSBF second leg

Dover, DE – The second leg of the Dover series for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund pacing colts and geldings got underway with three $20,000 divisions on Monday (Nov. 15).

Montrell Teague started off the night with a win in the first half of the Daily Double with Schrute (Southwind Lynx-Nikijah) in 1:57.1. This made three wins in a row for the chestnut colt bred and owned by his father, George Teague, Jr. and trained by Clyde Francis. Step On Over (Mike Cole) finished second and Holiday Misguided (Jacob Cutting) earned the show spot.

The next division was another repeat winner from last week, DS Heartland (Badlands Hanover-Armbro Cashmere) in 1:54.4 for driver, Art Stafford, Jr. Bred and owned by Nanticoke Racing and Donna Messick. Trained by Les Givens. Place was the Harrington final winner, It’s Above Me Now (Montrell Teague) followed in third by Casinobags Vincent (Victor Kirby).

Third and final division of the night was the quickest and was another repeat for Heinikin Bythebay (Southwind Lynx-Sally Pansen) in 1:53.4 Driven by recently inducted Hall of Famer, Tim Tetrick, trained by Kevin Switzer. Bred and owned by KDK Standardbreds. Place went to Johnny Badlands (Corey Callahan) and the show was It’spronounced Jif (Montrell Teague).

The $100K final is next Monday (Nov. 22) night. Top eight point earners plus a $15K consolation for the next eight.

Two-year-old trotters will race tomorrow (Nov. 16) night. Post time is 4:30 p.m. with two early non-wagering events.
