Con Game is a winner in Fox Stake

Columbus, OH — Sawgrass Farms LLC’s Con Game was a wire-to-wire winner from post five in the $47,685 Fox Stake for 2-year-old pacers on Friday (August 20) at the Indiana State Fair.

Trained by Perry Smith and driven to victory by Todd Warren, the Cam’s Card Shark-Lady Leslie colt left the gate strongly and was never caught through fractions of :27.1, :56.1, 1:24.2 and 1:54.2. Con Game was a 1-1/4 length winner over Four Starzzz Z, with Best Man Hanover finishing third.

For Con Game, the win was his second in four lifetime starts and increased his bankroll to $32,192.

Co-featured on the Friday card at Indianapolis was the $26,939 Horseman-Ralph Wilfong Trot for 2-year-olds. Robert Key’s Ice Machine lowered his mark to 1:58.1 when he took advantage of a three hole trip and powered by the leaders in the lane to post his second career victory in five trips behind the gate.

Peter Wrenn was in the bike for trainer Rich Gillock as the Muscles Yankee-Icy Pleasure colt posted a two length victory over Cartier Field with Windsong Farewell third.

In addition, four Hoosier Stakes for 2-year-olds were contested as part of the Grand Circuit card. The winners on Friday were:
