Connie Skolnick, 84, dies

Columbus, OH — Connie Skolnick, 84, who, with her husband Allen, owned and operated one of the leading Standardbred breeding farms in New Jersey, Southwind Farms in Pennington, died March 28, 2013.

Southwind Farms of New Jersey, which stood champions Valley Victory and Artsplace, currently is the home to trotting stallion Muscle Hill and more than 40 broodmares. The Skolnicks acquired the 235-acre farm in 1986.

Southwind’s distinctive statuary and gardens were designed by Mrs. Skolnick.

She is survived by her husband, Allen; children, Mitchel (of Bluestone Farms) and Barry; grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew and Jacob; and sister, Nicky Brodney. She was preceded in death by her son, Rand.
