Consolations to be offered for Pocono stakes

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Upon consultation with the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, it has been decided to offer consolation races for the four events comprising the Sun Stakes Saturday at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The events will be added to the racing card featuring the finals this Saturday (June 29).

There will be a $50,000 consolation for the Ben Franklin Free For All Pace, the Earl Beal, Jr. Memorial 3-year-old trot and the Max C. Hempt Memorial 3-year-old pace. There will also be a $30,000 consolation for the James M. Lynch Memorial 3-year-old filly pace.

From those who enter, entries will be determined on the official order of finish for those did not qualify for the finals.

Anyone interested in these events should contact the race office on Tuesday morning before 9 a.m.

Post time for Sun Stakes Saturday (June 29) is 6:30 p.m. There will be two Racing Under Saddle events prior to post time; the first race will take place at approximately 6:10 p.m. and the second at approximately 6:20 p.m.
