Construction may slow trip for NYSS pacers to Monticello on Wednesday

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — Director of Racing Eric Warner wants to warn horsemen who may be shipping in from out of town to compete in the New York Sire Stakes and the Excelsior Stakes on Wednesday afternoon (June 6) that construction and blasting on Route 17 may slow your trip if you are traveling west to Monticello.

A new bridge crossing the Neversink River is being constructed and when blasting occurs traffic is held up for long periods of time.

“Anyone shipping in a horse from New York, Goshen, or from points east of Monticello might get detained due to blasting so please keep that in mind if you are shipping in to race in the Sire Stakes or the Excelsiors,” Warner said.
