Chester, PA — Fresh off a jaw-dropping 1:51.3 win at Pocono, Cooler Schooner ($4.20) struck again in her $84,328 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes division on Friday (Aug. 30) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, taking top honors among 2-year-old trotting fillies in 1:54.2.

The daughter of Broadway Hall and Pine Schooner drilled a :26.4 first quarter before facing steady pressure on the backstretch from Designed To Be (Andy Miller). Battling past a three-quarter split of 1:25, John Campbell called upon Cooler Schooner for everything she had at the head of the stretch. Ultimately, she was able to just stave off a valiant charge from Designed To Be, but only prevailing by a head. Jim Campbell trains Cooler Schooner for Fashion Farms, LLC.

Cooler Schooner’s 1:54.2 time was not only a 2-year-old trotting filly track record, lowering the old standard set by Win Missy B (1:55.1), but was the fastest freshman trotting mile, boy or girl, ever here (again, Win Missy B).

The other two divisions saw driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Jimmy Takter team up for a pair of winners, with Honor Thy Daughter ($6.00, Donato Hanover-Honorable Daughter, 1:57) and Lifetime Pursuit ($2.10, Cantab Hall-Queen Of Grace, 1:57.3) taking their divisions.

In addition to Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action, Harrah’s Philadelphia hosted Historic Series events for 2-year-old pacers, with Tim Tetrick teaming both Debutante Stake (filly pace) winners Tyra (1:53.2) and McVita Bella (1:53.3).

In addition, 2-year-old male pacers Sometimes Said (1:52.4, John Campbell), The Lunch Pail (1:51.3, Andy Miller), and Allstar Partner (1:52.2, Corey Callahan) won their respective Goshen Cup events.
