Corleone Kosmos lands in the middle in Breeders Crown

by Moira Fanning, publicity director, the Hambletonian Society

Campbellville, ON — Corleone Kosmos, fresh from a rousing victory in the Nat Ray Trot on Hambletonian day, drew post five in the $726,000 (C$784,000) Breeders Crown Trot with supplementals Giant Diablo, the only mare in the field, drawing post four and Equinox Bi drawing post six.

“I guess the worst we could have been was post seven so five is good for us,” said stable manager Brian Owen. “Midpack is where we want to be and we are much happier with the five hole. Last year (in the Crown) we had the nine hole so this is an improvement. We didn’t want to be on the outside and we would have liked to be inside Vivid Photo so we are definitely happy.”

The Breeders Crown Trot is one of four open events worth $1.8 million set for Saturday, September 1, at Mohawk Raceway in Campbellville, Ontario.

The complete field in post position order is as follows:

Post – Horse – Driver – Trainer
1 – Muscles Marinara – Randy Waples – Shawn Robinson
2 – Med Vac – Ron Pierce – Noel Daley
3 – Sand Vic – Brian Sears – Trond Smedshammer
4 – Giant Diablo (S) – Dave Miller – Roger Walmann
5 – Corleone Kosmos – John Campbell – Darren McCall
6 – Equinox Bi (S) – Mike Lachance – Jan Nordin
7 – Vivid Photo – Roger Hammer – Roger Hammer
