Corleone Kosmos wins $70,000 Chester Open

Columbus, OH — Corleone Kosmos came first over at the three-quarter pole, grabbed the lead in the stretch, then went on to a 1-1/4 length victory in a time of 1:53 in the $70,000 Open Handicap Trot on Friday (June 17) at Harrah’s Chester.

Owned by Arthur Rudolph, Rudolph Stables Inc. and Bernard Owen, Corleone Kosmos is trained by Ross Croghan and was driven to victory by David Miller. The 9-year-old S J’s Photo gelding defeated Anders Bluestone, with Neighsay Hanover finishing third.

Also on tap at Chester were a trio of $69,704 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers.

The first division went to Mortgage Paid in a time of 1:52.4. The Bib Roberts trainee was driven by Jon Roberts for owner Joseph Thomas. Mortgage Paid is an Arturo-Vidalita Hanover filly. She scored by 3-1/4 lengths over Hasty Pulse, with Kayla’s Dream third.

In the middle division, Foxy Lady was parked to the lead at the opening quarter, then cleared to command and was never caught in a 1:52.3 mile. Owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, JJK Stables and Phillip Collura, the Real Desire-Judy Is A Fox miss is trained by Ron Burke and was piloted by Yannick Gingras. Foxy Lady was a half-length winner over Cold Mist, with Real Amor third.

The final split went to Brittany Farms’ Fresh Idea in a time of 1:52.3. Dave Palone was in the bike for trainer Tony Alagana as the Western Hanover-Last Night filly scored by 1-1/2 lengths over Jolting Kate with Mikayla Rose third.
