Cottonwood to have charity stallion service auction

from Cottonwood Farms

Big Rock, IL — Cottonwood Farm is proud to support the efforts of Equine Dreams.

Equine Dreams is certified by NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) and provides a variety of services to more than 100 clients with special needs ranging in age from 3 to 63. The efforts of Equine Dreams are doubly amazing as their program provides priceless benefits at no cost to those riders enrolled at their center.

Founded in 1998, Equine Dreams is a registered 501 C-3 not-for-profit organization. Although the instructors are NARHA certified, Equine Dreams operates with a 100 percent volunteer staff; there are no paid employees or directors. All services are provided to their clients free of charge. Equine Dreams is funded entirely through the support of private contributions, grants from various philanthropic foundations, in-kind donations, and a variety of fund raising events.

For the past several years one of those fund raisers has been a stallion service auction held in conjunction with the Cottonwood Farm Yearling Sale, and we are pleased to announce that we will be doing it again this year at our sale on September 9, 2007.

At 11:45 a.m. we will precede the yearling sale with a series of four auctions for stallion services for the upcoming 2008 breeding season. Cottonwood Farm will donate one breeding for each of the stallions we stand — Art’s Conquest, Broadway Express, Cole Muffler and Ideal Towne.

Each of the winning bidders will be entitled to breed an approved mare during the 2008 breeding season. Cottonwood Farm will provide the stallion service fee and a maximum of 60 days of free board for the mare while she is at Cottonwood Farm — all at no cost to the winning bidder.

The mare must be bred at Cottonwood Farm during the normal breeding season which is determined solely by the farm. If the mare fails to produce a live foal in 2009, Cottonwood Farm will offer a one time re-breed for the 2009 season (the re-breed will apply for only one year) under the same terms. If, for any reason, any stallion is unable to breed the mare, Cottonwood Farm will substitute a breeding to one of our other stallions.

This is truly a win-win situation for both Equine Dreams and the successful bidders.

Equine Dreams receives the complete benefits of the winning bids because the checks are made payable directly to Equine Dreams.

Equine Dreams is a 501 C3, not-for-profit organization, and a registered charity. We suggest that you consult with your tax advisor for the tax deductible status of your winning bid.

We do request that the winning bidders make complete settlement with Equine Dreams on the day of the sale, so please come out on Sunday prepared to bid generously for a very worthwhile cause — and remember to put an extra check (or two) in your pocket.
