Country Romance scored in 1:58.2 in the fastest of two DSBF splits.

Allan Davis steered William Moffett’s Country Romance to the lead heading to the half and then romped home for a 1:58.2 victory in one of the two prelims. It was the fourth career win for the Giant Hit-Give A Hoot filly who now has won $41,026. Starlit Eyes, with Ross Wolfenden, finished second with Tricia’s Banner and Nick Callahan the third-place finisher.

Dylan Davis, who is one of the meet’s top five trainers, made only his third appearance as a driver this year and it paid off for a 1:59.2 success. Racing second when favorite Luscious Leigh broke stride after the half, Podium streaked to the front and had just enough to hold off Embrace Peace and Roger Plante by a nose at the wire for her maiden win. Circle M Dawn was third with Eddie Davis, Jr. in the bike.

The second of two DSBF prelims are set for next week.

Vic Kirby led all drivers with four wins. George Dennis, Allan Davis and Montrell Teague had doubles.
