Monticello, NY — On a beautiful summer like Monday (May 11), with temperatures in the mid 80s, a fast track and a slight head wind, Crazy Wow and Habitat did not disappoint and raced up to expectations, with each scoring impressive victories in New York Sire Stakes divisions at Monticello Raceway.

Crazy Wow was a 1:56.4 winner for Yannick Gingras in NYSS action at Monticello.

In the first division of Sire Stakes, Crazy Wow raced in his usual catch me if you can fashion and scored a wire-to-wire victory in 1:56.4. Fresh off two qualifiers at the Meadowlands, the son of Crazed never had an anxious moment. Confidant driver Yannick Gingras sternly said in the winner’s circle afterwards, “He was real good.”

In the fourth race Excelsior A division, Monticello favorite Hollywoods Thatway, benefited from a disqualification from Eskimo Joe, who put in a few steps at the top of the lane, and was declared the winner in 1:59.2, a new lifetime mark.

In the eighth race the winning combination of trainer Ron Burke and Yannick Gingras took home their second win of the afternoon with Habitat in 1:56.3. Buen Casmino provided a scare at the top of the stretch when he shot out of the two hole and looked like he would go right on by Habitat. That was all the urging Habitat needed to step up his game to prevail, easily passing the ‘look me in the eye’ test.

Team Gingras and Burke took home their third win of the afternoon, scoring with Stoneham in 1:59.4 in a Excelsior A division.

In the 10th race, Maestro Blue Chip took a new mark of 1:57 for trainer–driver Trond Smedshammer. The Credit Winner colt is owned by Purple Haze Stable.

Other winners of the day included Desert Storm (2:01.3), Court’s N Session (2:02.1), Royal Status (1:59.1), Azucar (1:59.4) and Military Blue (1:58.1).
