Crazycat wins his first Open event at Saratoga on Sunday afternoon.

The Jose Godinez-trained 5-year-old recorded his first ever Open Trot victory on the matinee card, coming from off the pace to score in a career-best 1:55.1 with co-owner Bruce Aldrich Jr. in the sulky.

Crazycat finished second in his debut in the local feature two weeks back and even after making a break last week, was the public’s 9-5 second choice in the wagering in Sunday afternoon’s installment of the $12,000 Open.

Cash Me Out (Mark Beckwith) finished second on Sunday following third-place finishes in his previous two cracks at the Open while longshot Quick Feet (Phil Fluet) earned the show spot.

In addition to being a new lifetime mark for Crazycat, the 1:55.1 also served as a new seasonal-best for trotters at the Spa thus far this year.

The race’s exacta and triple, with the favorite out of it, paid $20.80 and $181.50, respectively.

Live racing resumes on Thursday afternoon at Saratoga with a matinee beginning at 12:15 p,m.
