Columbus, OH — Dalio “Majik” Simmons, 51, a longtime horseman, died Dec. 8, 2011.

Mr. Simmons was born in Akron, Ohio, and raced in the Buckeye State for many years but had been based recently in New Jersey.

He is survived by his mother, Lula Belle; father, Eloid; sisters, Alterine Elliott and Diole; brother, Deloid; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmothers, Lillian Huggs and Agnes Hubbard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (Dec. 17) at 11 a.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Pastor James E. Pope officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1101 Packard Dr., Akron, OH 44320. Family and friends will meet at Miracle Revival Church, 1196 Andrus St., Akron, OH 44301, following interment.
