Dancin Yankee’s book is full and closed

Lima, OH — Cool Winds Farm is proud to announce that the stud book for world champion and three-time Ohio Older Pacer of the Year Dancin Yankee p,1:47.2f ($2,003,907) is full and closed for the 2020 breeding season.

Extremely pleased with the interest shown in the horse’s inaugural season, co-owner Mark Weaver stated, “It is a great feeling to see Dancin Yankee receive the response he did in Ohio. To be able to assemble 140 mares is also a testament to the superb job Randy and Kim Haines have done. Cool Winds Farm has been fantastic. Thank you to everyone who supported him.”

A perpetual iron-horse with 80 lifetime wins, as well as a fan favorite, the now 12-year-old son of Yankee Cruiser earned more than $115,000 in each of the last nine of his ten racing seasons. Perhaps the best Ohio-sired horse of all time, Dancin Yankee recently eclipsed $2 million in lifetime earnings in 2019.

Stallion manager and farm owner Randy Haines was also delighted over the horse’s accomplishments, noting “Buckeye State breeders really embraced Dancin Yankee. He was as consistent and strong in the breeding shed as he was on the racetrack. We bred several of our own mares to him, and look forward to raising and selling his foals in 2022.

“We would also like to thank the breeders for choosing Dancin Yankee. During this difficult time, we are grateful for everyone that continued to support harness racing, as well as Standardbred breeding farms.”

Still the fastest older pacing stallion on a half-mile track, Dancin Yankee defeated both Foiled Again and Heston Blue Chip in a world record 1:48.4h, winning the Joe Gerrity Memorial at Saratoga in 2014 at age six. He banked $509,140 that season, also setting a world record of 1:47.2f at Pocono and winning the $100,000 Sun Stakes Invitational there in 1:47.3f.

He is the first foal from the 100 percent-producing Cambest mare Dancewiththebest p,4,1:54.4f, she a half-sister to seven sub-1:54 multiple-stakes winners, including Marty Party p,2,1:51.2f ($684,603) and The Lunch Pail p,3,1:51.1f ($522,139).

Dancin Yankee is also a three-quarter brother in blood to recent Breeders Crown champion Dancin Lou p,3,1:48.3 ($581,159) and four other sub-1:54 stakes winning performers.

Dancin Yankee stood for an introductory stud fee of $2,500 at Cool Winds Farm in Lima, Ohio.
