Columbus, OH — Daniel J. Elliott, 56, of East Windsor, N.J., died March 22, 2011, after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Elliott grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and began his grooming career at Detroit area tracks such as Hazel Park, Northville Downs and Wolverine Raceway. He moved to New Jersey in 1976 when the Meadowlands opened.

Over several years, he worked for various trainers but mainly for his top training brother, David Elliott. During his career, his favorite horses to take care of were D I Ruthie Dear and Taro Hanover.

He is survived by his son, Christopher; brother, David; cousin, Steve; and various other cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

A memorial service was held on March 29 at Gaitway Farm in Manalapan, N.J.
