DarkHorseBet members raise funds for charity

Powell, OH — Online wagering site DarkHorseBet donated more than $3,000 to equine and racing industry charities selected by its members in 2013.

The recipients were the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, American Standardbred Adoption Program, Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue, Retirement Assistance and Care for Equines, Horse Ability and New Vocations.

DarkHorseBet encourages its members to select a charity they would like to support and then donates 0.1 percent of their wagers to that group — at no cost to the player.

In total, Dark Horse Bet has raised more than $10,000 for charity, including a handle-driven donation drive for the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy relief fund in 2012.

“As horse owners and breeders ourselves, we believe in giving back to the community we care so much about,” said CEO Bruce Soulsby. “We are pleased that many of our members feel the same way and choose to participate in our charity program. It costs the player nothing and is one of the unique ways we thank them for using our site.”

Members who have not yet selected a charity are encouraged to e-mail playersupport@darkhorsebet.com with the racing or equine industry non-profit they wish their handle to benefit. Charities that would like to be considered for the program are also invited to contact the site.
