‘Dash’ wins Preferred Trot for third time at Freehold

Freehold, NJ — Her name may be in code, but Dot Dot Dot Dash has made her message clear over the past few weeks: she’s the best trotter based at Freehold Raceway this winter.

The 9-year-old mare won the preferred trot for the third time this season on Saturday (Feb. 2), scoring as the even-money favorite.

Driver Eric Abbatiello conceded the lead to Big Bill Breeze early, allowing Dot Dot Dot Dash to sit a perfect pocket trip. Turning for home, she flew up the passing lane and won going away, with minimal urging. The final time was 1:59.4, with a sharp final quarter of :29.4 seconds.

Dot Dot Dot Dash is owned by William Vandervort and trained by Leah Vandervort. In her five starts at Freehold this season, she’s never been worse than third, while earning $14,960. For her career, she’s won 24 races and earned more than $450,000.

Live racing at Freehold resumes on Friday (Feb 8) with a first post time of 12:30 p.m.
