David Glasser wins at big odds in GSY Series

East Rutherford, NJ — After a weeklong rain and bad weather in the Northeast, Mother’s Day (May 8) at the Meadowlands provided sunny skies and mid-60 degree temperatures for a rare Sunday afternoon card. The second race on the program featured nine trotters that went to post in the only GSY Series race of the day.

When the gate sprung open, Dave Glasser, behind Celebrity Stimulus, took the lead and never relinquished it. He won the mile event by six lengths. Glasser was challenged for over a half-mile by the eventual fourth place finisher, Doc Simon’s Dream, with Jimmy Marshall IV doing the driving. Giant T, with Bob Davis up, sat the pocket the entire way and took second place at the finish. A traffic troubled Feisty Love, with Roy Marohn holding the lines, was a fast closing and tough luck third.

Glasser gave the betting public another “gift” of sorts on this special Sunday by paying $36.80 to win for a $2 wager. The exacta with another longshot that finished second paid a walloping $885.60 and the triple $2,727.40. The race was timed in 1:56.4 and Glasser owns this 6-year-old Cantab Hall gelding that is trained by John Butenschoen. It was his first driving win this year.

Next Friday, the GSY Series amateur events will take a week off to make room for the C.K.G. Billings amateur races at the Meadowlands. Some new horses and drivers should be scheduled for these exciting amateur events.
