Davidson du Pont wins 101st Prix d’Amerique

Vincennes, FR — Davidson du Pont – a 9-year-old trotter – driven by 21-year-old Nicolas Bazire won the 101st Prix d’Amerique 2022 at Vincennes in a photo finish.

Davidson du Pont, who had finished second to Face Time Bourbon twice in the last two years, managed to catch leader Galius (Joann Lebourgeois) at the finish line – both timed in 1.54.2 (mile rate).

It was a first win in the big race for Bazire, who is son to Jean Michel Bazire – the leading trainer in France.

It was a very emotional victory as Davidson du Pont is bred and owned by Jean-Yves Rayan – the grandfather of Nicolas Bazire.

The purse for the winner was $1.1 million (U.S.).

Third in the race was Flamme du Goutier, who last Sunday won the under-saddle race, Prix du Cornulier.

The favorite in Prix d’Amerique, Etonnant finished out of the money.

Davidson du Pont is “homemade” by the Rayon-family and out of Pacha du Pont – Laguna du Pont.

However, on both the maternal and paternal side, there is American blood.

Stars Pride and Ayres is found in the fourth generation on each side.
