‘Day at the Farm’ Open House at Southern Oaks

from VIP Stable

VIP Stable and trainer John Butenschoen are issuing an open invitation to attend “A Day at the Farm” at the Southern Oaks Training Center in Sorrento, Florida on Friday, February 11.

Current horse owners, anyone interested in learning about Standardbred racehorse ownership, and those who are just fans of the sport of harness racing are welcome to get an inside glimpse at a day inside a Standardbred racing barn. John Butenschoen and his staff will be training a stellar group of newly turned 2-year-olds for all to see.

The crop of 2-year-olds in training with Butenschoen is a who’s who of top sires in harness racing, including Rocknroll Hanover, Art Major, Yankee Glide, Western Terror, Cam’s Card Shark, Artiscape, and Sportsmaster.

This first of its kind event should have something for everyone! Fans and horse lovers can get a behind the scenes look at what goes into getting these magnificent athletes ready to compete. Potential owners can meet Ed O’Connor and Tom Janes from VIP Stable, learn more about racehorse ownership and get a firsthand look at the partnership opportunities. Those who attend might even get a peek at some of the stars of 2010 from one of the other barns at Southern Oaks — top horses like Big Jim, Manofmanymissions, Shadyshark Hanover, and Big Time Ball.

This inaugural “Day at the Farm” event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 11, but may be moved to Feb. 12 if rain prevents training on Friday. The Southern Oaks Training Center is 45 minutes northwest of Orlando, Florida, and is the winter home to top stables such as Tim Pinske, Erv Miller, James Dean, Ed Lohmeyer, and Dr. Ian Moore.
