Daylon Magician has banked $242,606 in his career.

Daylon Magician, last year’s Super final victor in the 2-year-old trotting colt division, captured his first OSS elimination of the 2011 season by four lengths on Sunday, May 22. In his sophomore debut, the David Lemon trainee took a new lifetime mark with a 1:54.4 effort.

Regular pilot Jack Moiseyev may be slightly worried his elimination wasn’t the fastest of the three, but he is confident in the horsepower he has.

“You’re always concerned if one race went quicker, but my last quarter was better,” he stated. “We’ll have to see, it was his first start just like a couple of other ones. My colt was very strong down by the wire, so I have a lot of faith in him. We drew well and I am excited to race him.”

Daylon Magician and Sim Brown both clocked a :27.3 final quarter, but Sim Brown captured the slowest elim in 1:56.2, whereas Mr Joe Sixpack captured the fastest elim in 1:54.1 with a final quarter of :28.1.

The homebred trotter made three breaks as a 2-year-old, but Moiseyev expects he will mind his manners in Monday’s C$130,000 dash. Moiseyev explained that Lemon did some work on the colt’s knees to correct the issue.

“Once David got him set with that, he’s been good ever since, knock on wood,” he laughed.

The conditioner made sure to keep Moiseyev updated over the winter months.

“He kept calling me once a month and told me how good he was training down and he was right,” said Moiseyev.

The son of Kadabra-Daylon Marvel has a lifetime record of 4-2-1 in nine starts and $242,606 in earnings. His freshman OSS record is equally impressive with three wins, two seconds, and one third-place finish in eight starts and a bankroll of $222,006. Lemon also owns and bred Daylon Magician.

The OSS Gold final is Monday night’s featured event, which will go as the fifth race. First race post time is 7:10 p.m.
