Dayson prevails in Meadows trot; Palone wins five

Washington, PA — Millionaire Dayson pulled the pocket into the final turn and outkicked Classicality in the lane to capture Monday’s (July 8) $20,000 Open 1 Trot at The Meadows.

Dayson gave Dave Palone one of five wins on Monday’s program at The Meadows. Chris Gooden photo.

Dayson and Dave Palone were content to release Classicality and Brian Zendt before the quarter, but they were the stronger pair late, clicking off a :27.3 final panel en route to a 2-1/4-length victory over Classicality in 1:52.1. Glidinthruparadise completed the ticket.

Ron Burke trains Dayson, a 6-year-old Conway Hall-Nervey’s Taurus gelding who now has banked $1,077,712, for the Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby. Palone collected five wins on the 13-race card, including three for Burke.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Tuesday (July 9), when the program features a $1,520.20 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
