DE Valley USHWA’s groom award deadline approaching

Harrington, DE — A friendly reminder to trainers, that the deadline for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the United States Harness Writers’ Association’s inaugural caretaker award is fast approaching.

Nominations are now being accepted via email at devalleyushwa@gmail.com.

The award, sponsored by the DE Valley Chapter USHWA, is designed to recognize a caretaker/groom who works primarily in Delaware, Maryland, or Virginia for a trainer in good standing. He/she must have a current Delaware, Maryland or Virginia groom’s license and cannot currently be training horses.

To nominate a caretaker/groom for this award, trainers need to write a detailed letter (300 words or less) explaining why a caretaker/groom from your stable deserves to be Caretaker of the Year. Please include the groom’s name, address, phone number, along with your name, address, and phone number.

Caretakers/grooms are often the unsung heroes of the sport and this award memorializes their dedication. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 30.

The winner will receive a $200 award courtesy of the Delaware Valley Chapter of USHWA.
