Deadline approaching for USTA Owner School at Sunshine Meadows

Columbus, Ohio — The deadline to register for two days of hands-on and classroom instruction at the USTA Owner School held at Sunshine Meadows Equestrian Village, is drawing near. Registration closes on Wednesday (Jan. 18) for the event held Jan. 21-22.

Each participant will be given the opportunity to get up close and personal with horses during the morning hours, followed by lectures by some of the sport’s top owners and trainers. They will learn how easy it is to get involved as an owner.

Daily seminar topics include:
• Ownership opportunities
• Types of horses to purchase
• Racing opportunities
• Owner-Trainer relations
• Accounting Practices / Tax Law–Implications
• How to get started
• USTA/Regulation of racing

Speakers will include: Tony Alagna, trainer of Captaintretcherous, the Pacer of the Year in both 2012 and 2013 and other notable grand circuit winners of over $29 million; Steve Oldford, internationally known amateur driving champion, with more than 40 years of experience as an owner; Paul Kelley, noted trainer who operates a top stable from N.Y.; Myron Bell, noted owner and syndicator of Standardbreds; Jim Winske, who is well versed in horse partnerships following many years as a top trainer and driver, among other industry notables.

There is no registration fee.

Participants may also be eligible to receive a credit of $100 off the registration for the 2017 Standardbred Driving School.
