Phil Terry has announced his retirement from the Delaware County Fair.

Terry, 67, has served as the Director of Marketing since 1998 and served as the fair’s General Manager from 2008 until 2013. Terry was honored for his work when he was named the 2010 Little Brown Jug Wall of Fame honoree.

“I have been blessed to be involved with the Little Brown Jug and harness racing at the Delaware County Fair,” noted Terry. “I was very lucky to have a friend like Tom Thomson who taught me about the Jug and its importance to the people who attend the Jug and to harness racing as a whole. Thanks to everyone who helped me through the years.”

“No one loves the Little Brown Jug more than Phil,” noted Tom Wright, President of the Little Brown Jug Society. “His dedication and efforts to improve the race and events around the Jug will be his legacy.”

“The fair board cannot thank Phil enough for his leadership of the fair during some tough economic times,” added Pat Paykoff, President of the Delaware County Fair Board.

The Delaware County Fair will start a search to find a replacement for Terry.

The 2017 Delaware County Fair will run from Saturday (Sept. 16) through Saturday (Sept. 23). The 72nd edition of the Little Brown Jug will be raced on Thursday (Sept. 21).
