Delia du Pommereux defeats Bold Eagle in Prix du Bourbonnais

The second test for the Prix d’Amerique, the Prix du Bourbonnais, was contested at Vincennes on Sunday (Dec. 8) and was won by the 6-year old mare Delia du Pommereux. Franck Nivard was in the bike and the pair just caught long-leading Bold Eagle with Eric Raffin to win by a neck.

This was the second year consecutive year Delia du Pommereux won this race.

Bold Eagle, who raced for the first time since his win in the Breeders Crown, was in command most of the race, and going into the stretch, it seemed that Raffin had a ton in his lines.

Delia du Pommereux was just behind Bold Eagle, waiting for racing room.
Just 100 yards before the finish line Delia du Pommereux and Nivard found that room and went easily around Bold Eagle to win the 1-3-4 mile event in 1.57.3 (mile rate).

Delia de Montfort with Gabriele Gelormini was third.

The first three finishers are now qualified for the Prix d’Amerique.
