Delicious is Horse of the Year in Sweden

Delicious, a 7-year-old mare bred by Lindy Farms, was voted Horse of the Year in Sweden Friday night (Feb. 12) in Stockholm.

Delicious was sold in 2012 at the Standardbred Mixed Sale in Harrisburg for $100,000 to the powerful Swedish racing stable Stall Zet. Delicious has improved from year to year in Sweden and had a banner year in 2015, where she trotted to no less than three world records over different distances. She raced nine times in 2015, winning six races.

She was nominated for the Horse of the Year with another USA-bred, Nuncio, and two Swedish-breds, Magnifique Face and Some Summit. The Horse of the Year category is the only contest where foreign-bred trotters can be acknowledged in Sweden. Otherwise Nuncio most likely would have been 4-year-old Trotter of the Year; the Swedish mare Some Summit won the honor.

Magnifique Face was voted elder trotter of the year and the well known D’One was elder mare.
