Delicious out of Prix d’Amerique prep

by Karsten Bønsdorf

World champion Delicious has been scratched from the Prix du Bourbonnais, the second prep race for the Prix d’Amerique, to be raced Sunday afternoon (Dec. 13) at Vincennes.

Swedish-owned and trained, but bred by Lindy Farms, Delicious has had a banner year and was headed to the Prix d’Amerique.
The mare arrived at the famous training center, Grosbois, Wednesday and trained well, but this morning her trainer, Daniel Redén, found an infection in a leg and he had to scratch her.

Delicious was favored to win the Prix du Bourbonnais raced over 1-3/4 miles with a standing start.

Now the field will be at 13 trotters, among those the defending Prix d’Amerique champion, Up and Quick, who will trail the field by 25 meters.

Sunday will be a great day for harness racing lovers in France as the best 3-year-old trotters meet in the Criterium des 3 Ans, that carries a purse of $240,000 Euros. New French trotting star, Bold Eagle, will race in the Prix Octave Douesnel as part of his preparation for the Prix d’Amerique.
