Pompano Beach, FL — Desiree Dessureault, the caretaker of L M Canon, who last month at Pompano Park went undefeated with four straight wins, has been named by the Florida Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association as the Caretaker of the Month.

Desiree will be honored with a special winner’s circle presentation by the Florida USHWA Chapter in the winner’s circle at the track before the first race on Saturday (June 15).

Married to Mario Dessureault, who trains L M Canon for the Jamie Marra Racing Stable of Delray Beach, Desiree and Mario teamed up with Marra nearly two years ago.

“I don’t like to have my horses in a big stable.” Marra explained. “So when I first met Mario and Desiree I saw they only had a few horses but more importantly they care for every horse as if they owned them themselves and that’s what sold me on them. It’s a perfect fit.

“Desiree takes superb care of the horses like they were her children,” Marra added. “I even bring my 6-year-old daughter, Kate, to the backstretch a lot and they let her help with things around the barn. They have great knowledge and experience with horses and that has made a difference.”

The stable’s hottest horse is L M Canon, a 9-year-old mare by Peddler Yorktowne from the Theo T mare Y L Pileouface. Since they claimed her back in March, L M Canon has won six of her 11 starts for the Dessureault Stable.
